SRINAGAR, AUGUST 21: The ongoing agitation by employees of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has been called off following an assurance from the Government that their concerns regarding the deputation issue would be examined and addressed.
Sources said the Government is likely to consider deputing an IAS officer to the Legislative Assembly Secretariat soon, aimed at resolving the administrative concerns and ensuring smooth functioning of the Secretariat.
The employees had earlier staged a protest inside the Assembly premises against the General Administration Department (GAD) order concerning the deputation of Deputy Secretary Bilal Ahmad Mir, seeking a review of the decision.
Following assurances from the Government and intervention by concerned authorities, the employees decided to call off their proposed agitation, expressing hope that the matter would be resolved amicably and in accordance with the established rules and procedures.
The development comes after several MLAs also expressed solidarity with the Assembly employees and supported their demand for a review of the deputation decision.
The employees said they would cooperate with the administration while awaiting further action from the Government.
