Jammu, July 5:
The National Anti-Terrorism Front (NATF) has welcomed the decisive action taken by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in ordering a high-level inquiry into the controversy surrounding the procurement of inappropriate books for government school libraries in Jammu & Kashmir.
Highlighting the issue, NATF State Secretary Rohit Gupta termed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha action as a bold and timely step towards safeguarding the education system. He said that the suspension of eight officials of the School Education Department, the disengagement of a contractual employee, and the blacklisting of the concerned authors and publishers clearly demonstrate the administration’s zero-tolerance approach towards negligence and any attempt to compromise the integrity of education.
Rohit Gupta stated that educational institutions must remain centres of learning, patriotism, and national values, free from any material that could promote separatist or divisive ideologies. He emphasized that accountability at every level is essential to ensure that such lapses are not repeated in the future.
Referring to Government Order No. 257-JK(Edu) of 2026 dated July 4, Rohit Gupta said the inquiry ordered by the Lieutenant Governor is a significant step towards fixing responsibility and strengthening transparency in the education system.
Reaffirming NATF’s commitment to national unity and public awareness, Rohit Gupta said the organization stands firmly with the administration in its efforts to protect the interests of students and preserve the sanctity of the education system in Jammu & Kashmir. He also urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and work collectively to ensure that schools continue to impart quality education in an environment free from inappropriate and divisive content.
